ANSI ASSP A10.37 pdf free download.Debris Net Systems Used During Construction and Demolition Operations.
3.3 The competent person is responsible for assuring that the debris net system(s) specified are ordered and delivered to the job site, inspected for damage and compliance with the specifications, and erected and tested in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and this standard.
3.4 The competent person shall not permit any work to proceed which could result in falling debris until the specified debris net system(s) are properly installed and tested.
3.5 The public and employees shall be warned of the danger from falling debris, and excluded as much as possible from beneath areas where debris may fall, even though protected by properly installed debris net systems. In no event shall the public or employees be allowed beneath unprotected areas.
4. MATERIALS
4.1 Materials used for debris nets may be natural or synthetic fibers of sufficient size, strength and number to absorb the drop test loads specified in this standard without significant distortion of the net pattern.
4.2 Net support systems shall be fabricated from material of sufficient strength to withstand the loads as anticipated.
5. DEBRIS NET SELECTION
5.1 All of the following factors shall be considered when selecting a debris net for a specific application.
5.1.1 Debris size will determine the debris net mesh opening size which shall be sufficiently small to prevent the smallest anticipated debris from falling through the net that must be retained.
5.1.2 Debris weight will determine the cord strength forming the debris net mesh which shall result in the net strength to withstand the impact of a weight at least two times the heaviest anticipated debris striking the net.
E. Provide the worst case scenario, that is the size, weight and mass of the biggest piece that must be retained.
5.1.3 Debris shape and texture will also determine the cord size and material depending on whether the anticipated debris is smooth or jagged with sharp cutting edges which may require heavier, stronger cord to minimize cutting damage. Other unique and special physical properties shall be considered, such as liquids, pastes or other flowable materials and acids.
E. How much area must be protected?
5.1.4 Debris fall distance debris nets shall be made to withstand impacts of debris from the anticipated free fall distance.
E. What is the maximum distance above the net the debris can originate from?
5.2 When two or more standard rated nets are used in combination, the heavier rated net shall be placed on the side opposite the impact and shall determine the maximum impact weight and maximum load ratings. The lighter rated net shall be placed on the impact side and shall determine the maximum mesh opening.
5.3 When operations that may affect the netting such as welding or torching are being performed above, precautions will be taken to protect the net from damage.ANSI ASSP A10.37 pdf download.
