Units of measure This Standard contains SI (metric) units with corresponding yard/pound quantities, the purpose being to allow the Standard to be used in yard/pound units. IEEE/ASTM SI 10, American National Standard for Metric Practice, or ISO 80000-1:2009 Quantities and units – Part 1: General, is used as a guide in making conversion.) If a value for a measurement and a corresponding value in other units are stated, the first stated value is to be regarded as the requirement. The given corresponding value may be approximate. If a value for a measurement and a corresponding value in other units, are both specified as a quoted marking requirement, the first stated unit, or both are to be provided.Terminology In this Standard, “shall” is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user shall satisfy in order to comply with the standard; “should” is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and “may” is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application.
3 Definitions The following definitions shall apply in this Standard: Air, dry – air with a moisture content such that the dew point of the air at the required test pressure is at least 11.1。C (20*F) below the ambient test temperature. Fueling connection – – joined assembly of the fueling nozzle and fueling receptacle. Fueling nozle一a device that permits quick connection and disconnection of fuel supply hose to the receptacle in a safe manner, also referred to as “nozzle.” Fueling receptacle一a device connected to a vehicle fuel storage system that receives the fueling nozzle and permits safe transfer of fuel, also referred to as “receptacle.” Nozzles – Type 1一a nozzle for use with dispensing hoses that may remain fully pressurized at dispenser shutdown. The nozzle is equipped with an integral valve or valves, incorporating an operating mechanism that first stops the supply of gas and safely vents the trapped gas before allowing the disconnection of the nozzle from the receptacle. The operating mechanism confirms that the vent valve is in the open position before the release mechanism can be operated and the gas located between the nozzle shutoff valve and the receptacle check valve is safely vented prior to nozzle disconnection (see Clause 5.2). This type nozzle is primarily intended for, but not restricted to, use at public fill stations. Type 2 – a nozzle for use with dispensing hoses that remains fully pressurized at dispenser shutdown. A three-way valve connected to the inlet of the nozzle is required to safely vent trapped gas prior to nozzle disconnection (see Clause 5.2). With a Type 2 nozzle, the vent valve operating mechanism is external to the nozzle. This type nozzle is intended to be used by trained operators only.CSA ANSI NGV 1 pdf download.
